How to become an Orthodontist

To become an orthodontist in Australia, you must:

  • Complete a five-year, full-time Bachelor degree in Dentistry.
  • Complete a three-year, full-time Masters degree in Orthodontics.
  • Be registered as a Specialist in Orthodontics by a State Dental Board.

Orthodontic Courses in Australia are subject to change from year to year, so prospective applicants should obtain information from the relevant institution before applying for admission.

Overseas Orthodontists who wish to find out whether they are qualified to work in Australia should contact the Australian Dental Council.
