Temporary Anchorage Devices

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) are minature screws or plates placed in the jaw bone where they can be used as "anchor points" to influence tooth movement during orthodontic treatment.

TADs allow the treatment of more-severe orthodontic problems without untoward reciprocal movement of adjacent teeth. In some cases, they may reduce treatment time and avoid the need for jaw surgery.

Usually, TADs are used in conjunction with braces. They are removed when they are no longer required.
